A Message from Commander Davenport

Gentlemen, as we approach the 11th hour, 11th minute on this 11th day of the 11th month, we will stop and think where we would be had it not been for this health crisis. We can still honor and thank those who served to protect our freedoms we enjoy today. Our local diner who would normally feed veterans at no cost today could not, due to the loss of revenue when closed due to COVID-19. I noticed an elderly man in a booth by himself with his proud Vietnam War Veteran hat on. Yes I got his bill and thanked him for his service. The smile was more than work the small price of $11.24 for his meal. Let's continue to put a smile on their faces with even the smallest jester.

Thank you for all you do to make us proud to be part of the Ohio Sons of AMVETS orginazitation.

Vern Davenport

Commander

Department of Ohio Sons of AMVETS.

National Convention 2020 CANCELLED

Message From Sons of AMVETS National Commander Richard Thibodeau

Ohio State Convention Cancelled

Due to State and Federal rules set in place to battle the covid-19 pandemic, the Department of Ohio AMVETS have decided to cancel the 2020 State Convention. All Department Officers will remain in their respective roles until June 2021, provided we can safely hold the convention at that time.Squadron and District Officers are encouraged to do the same. A new Change of Officer form will still need to be filed in a timely manner, accompanied by a receipt for each squadron's filing of the 990 form. Also, membership rules are still in place, all membership must be into Department HQ, as well as returned/unused preprint cards, by June 1. If any issues arise to prevent this date from being met, please contact Comdr Davenport or 1st Vice Steve Bryant  ASAP.  Attached is a letter from Commander Davenport with excerpts from messages from AMVETS Ohio Commander McElrath and National Sons JA David Spenser concerning the current situation. All Squadrons will receive a mailing in the next week, or so, from Department HQ concerning our next steps forward. Please look for the mailing and pay close attention to its contents, we will need everyone's assistance to finish this year and start the new year in strong fashion. Thank You, and be safe!
