Project Report Form Available

For squadrons still filing paper reports, a project report form is now available in the "Forms" section of the website. It has been edited to include the mailing address for Department of Ohio HQ. This will hopefully help to avoid any confusion as to where these forms should be sent.

Minutes from Midwinter Conference

The minutes from the Midwinter Conference General Business Sessions, E-Board Meeting, and E-Committee Meeting have been added for your convenience. All members with a registered account can access them through the minutes tab. We are having technical issues loading the officers' reports from the book, but they can be emailed to you by request. If you would like a copy emailed to you, please contact Dept Webmaster Bryant via email: BOBROX123@YAHOO.COM

Duane Pease Memorial Golf Tournament

It's that time again! Start planning now to attend this year's Annual Duane Pease Memorial Golf Tournament. Hosted again by the Sons of AMVETS of Post 66 Covington, it is sure to be another great day of fun in the sun! Last year's tournament was a huge success and this year's is already shaping up to be bigger and better! Also, we are again in need of Sponsors for Holes on the course. Your sponsorship will be well noted on the course, and will contribute to the Veterans' Day Bus Trip. These sponsorships are the funds put toward keeping the cost of the trip down and helping put more of our Veterans on the bus! Please click on the Golf Tournament listing on the Events page or list on the home page for the Flyer and a Letter describing the Hole Sponsorships. Please take these sponsorship opportunities back to your home Posts, Squadrons, Districts, and local businesses, again they are critical to the success of the Bus Trip. Thank you!

Legislative Priorities

We recently received an email from National and Department Legislative Director Doug Brown concerning the current Legislative Priorities being focused on  by the AMVETS Family when approaching lawmakers. These are critical to anyone who wishes to help during the March on the Hill, or anyone who wants to be up to date on the efforts of the Sons of AMVETS to help our Veterans.

2016 AMVETS Legislative Priorities

Federal Government Reform

• Extend Advanced Appropriations to all Remaining Discretionary & Mandatory Programs

• Strengthen Accountability & Ease VA Hiring Protocols
VA acknowledges that six months to a year are required to fill vacant positions—assuming a viable pool of candidates is interested and available.

• Implement Whistleblower Protections

Several VA whistleblowers have stated that transparency was stymied within VA, meaning proper protocols could never be implemented to deal with the real challenges the agency faced in delivering timely care to veterans..

• Ensure Adequate Investment in VA Capital Infrastructure

Harold Reed

The Sons of AMVETS lost a great supporter this past weekend. Harold Reed PDC from Michigan passed away. He served as the National Sons of AMVETS Coordinator with great pride and will be dearly missed. Prayers and thoughts go out to the Reed family, friends, and our AMVETS family to the north.

Sandusky OVH Christmas Party
